- We use HOW MANY when asking about countable nouns.
How many animals are there?
How many cars can you see?
How many slices of pizza did they order? - We use HOW MUCH when asking about uncountable nouns.
How much cheese is there?
How much water should we drink every day?
How much coffee is in the pot?
